Hi everyone,

Are these designed to only noticeably improve the sound of floorstanders, or can they provide simialr improvements if placed under standmounts on solid stands?

Currently I have my B&W 685s on Soundstyle Z2s with blutac between the speakers and stand. The stands are sat on their supplied spikes on a carpet on wooden floor boards.

Ive had great trouble since owning the speakers and stands to get them in a firm position, the floorboards are quite uneven and the carpet on top is quite firm making planting the spikes quite difficult.

So my question is would adding granite plinths solve the issue of creating a firm base without wobble and also improve the sound?

Im considering changing the speaker stands for something a little more heavy duty..Super Dreadnoughts or Atacama HMS1, but only if I can demo and hear a noticeable improvement. Although I think maybe extra outlay on these stands would be wasted if I didnt set them on a firm base.

Also where is the best place to get said plinths?

Any views and opinions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
