Grainy pic on Blu ray and Sky HD

Hi, not sure if this has been mentioned, but i have noticed some films on Sky HD and blu ray, look grainy!

On large areas of light color, pic looks quite grainy.... watching thru brand new Samsung HD box, Pan BD30 blu ray, Pan TX 37LZD85 LCD, all connected using Chord silver 1.3 HDMI cables.

Some stuff is just made that way, prime example '300'

With HD resolution you can now see the grain of the film. This is generally a good thing as without film grain things tend to look a lot like video. Obviously the amount of grain that's visible depends on how the film makers had their film post-produced. Some can be very sharp and vivid and other go for a more "earthy" or "gritty" look. It's all part of the art.

Oh ok thanx for the replies..... think i only started noticing it after getting my first pair of glasses (aged 47), as had my gear quite a few months now (sky HD is replacement for Pace box).

At least i know its normal.
