A cracking EP With the imaginative title of Mumford & sons, Laura Marling and Dharohar Project.

My favourite is probably track 4 Mehindi Rachi, absolute quality vocals from Laura Marling

I'm surprised to find myself quite liking this album... a bit more uptempo than my usual taste, agree with your fave tracks, another for my blog!

their other albums are pretty good too, damn expensive on CD though!

When I’m in the mood for more upbeat stuff I go to The Waterboys, The Levellers, Ferocious Dog (bit punky), Dropkick Murphys, Alabama 3..

The Levellers have a huge variety in their musical repertoire, including some brilliant acoustic stuff.

But right now Sam Airey is providing the mellowness

Glad you like Sam Airey, love a bit of mellow.

Someone who I haven't listened to for a while is A Fine Frenzy, picked one of her CD's off the shelf today called Pines, now that is mellow, but she does have another couple on the more uptempo side; Bomb in a Birdcage and One Cell in the Sea

Lucky For Some album surprised me, I put in on in the background and was half listening at first. It caught my attention and I ended up playing it all the way through and thoroughly enjoying it.

I’ll get round to trying John Murry and Dan Michaelson, later on

Just been listening to Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys album Ionia...decent

Some proper folk ;-)

Seth Lakeman’s Tales From The Barrel House is refreshingly simple musically. I love how you can hear the strings come to the fore with simple drum work banging away, combined with Seth’s earthy vocals.

Favourite track has gotta be Blacksmith’s Prayer

Just playing it, so far it's very good. Can't find much about her, she's from New Zealand. A good find.

Glad you like it Big H. No, not much detail about her, I've dropped her an Email about the album, but no response yet.

I'm late coming into this one, and it's been a while since I've posted. Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year!

Here's 3 folk/acoustic albums I would strongly recommend:

Richard Thompson - Acoustic Classics

Cara Dillon - A Thousand Hearts

Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys - Pretty Peggy

Hi Matthew,

wondered where you had got to, just put it down to Christmas and so glad of your suggestions... 3 top artists and albums.

I'm relatively late to the joys of Folk music and ashamed to admit not having heard anything by Oyster band... at the moment I'm listening to the album "This House Will Stand" a best of compilation and loving it.
