Hi guys, just after a bit of feedback. I have the Tannoy Revolutions DT6 SE and thinking about upgrading to the Focals. Had a demo of them today and think they are awesome. Just putting it out there to see what your thoughts are, whether this is a worthy upgrade from the Tannoys for that extra money spent.

You need to hear both speakers on the end of your system, and then if the Focals are more awesome than your Tannoys, you have your answer.

Also make sure you try other suspects at around the same price (PMC, Proac, Kef, Triangle, Usher)

Heard them on a Naim system and they are very good. IMO they are not as forward sounding as most Focal speakers.

HI guys, thanks for the feedback. I had a demo on these yesterday of the same set up that I have at home - the arcam a19 and the IRDAC box and thought they sounded pretty good. So think I'm swaying more towards to focals as they look and sound awesome.

I have had my 926's for three days now and love them. They still need plenty of running in but even out of the box the scale and clarity are very impressive. I am hearing things from familiar recordings for the first time and have never heard my fave tracks sound so rich and full. I just can't stop listening and enjoying my music.

Ive got the Focal Aria 906 stand mount speakers had them for just over a week and i goto say that these really are turning out to be the best speakers I've ever owned (quite a few lately KEF LS50,JBL studio 530,MISSION 752) yet apart from the JBLs the others just didn't gel well with my amp but these FOCALs are just awesome and look and feel like real quality.

for a stand mount the bass is very strong yet well controlled top end silky smooth.

i reckon the extra money over those tannoys its a no brainer.

I was looking at the Chorus vs new Flax Arias for weeks. The Chorus on sale seem like a real deal right now. But I still went for the Aria. I will never know if I made the right choice as I couldnt try the Chorus being internet order and not stocked. The Aria were at my local dealer. Still wondering if I made the right choice. They sound good for sure. Perhaps a little small. The detail is there. They can be boomy and heavy on the top end. In fact the cymbals seem way louder in the mix than on any other speaker. But its nice and silky so they get away with it. I do not beleive in break in other than our ears getting used to and adjusting.

Speakers can get crazy. Never a perfect pair for everything and one of those things where after 2k each $1000 buys maybe 1% improvement IMO. Would be interesting to have the chorus 826 for side by side listening test.

Focal knows estetics. The 926 look great from the Flax cone to the leather ... just a well dressed speaker. The Chorus look a little "90's" to me.

Could you tell me what kind of amp you have powering these?

Hi friendly_ghost

I am not aware of what amplification The Mad One is using however i can tell you that i've successfully paired Focal's Aria 906 speakers with amplifiers from the likes of Naim, Rotel, Arcam, Plinius, Cyrus, ATC, etc. I used Aria 906's for a couple of days last week on the end of an Audiolab 8200DQ/Hegel H30 combination and the Aria 906's sounded stunning

and also just about survived the onslaught *biggrin*

All the best

Heard the 826 very good speakers for their price but I think you can find better

options in the 926 price level or similiar such the Proac Studio 140MK2 , Proac Response D18 , PMC Twenty 23 . more natural sound and more controled bass.

Its been 5 days with my Aria 926. I cant get on with these things. Very strange. I have some Klipsch refence that kick and sound great. The focal have zero kick. Big crecendos get lost and lead lines lost. No mids and no soul. I tried to like them but frankly they are just overpriced icing. Detailed .. yes in the highs. The lows are boomy and the MIds really small. Dont like it.

About a week with them and very very happy. A noticeable upgrade compared to the pair they are replacing: B&W 805s - the high end is not as agressive, yet very detailed and the low end is so much warmer. I use a P-3000R and M-5000R to drive them.
