Spikes into carpet won't show even if you move the speakers. Ceiling may help but the problem is all the glass, laminated glass is meant to be better but probably not worth the expense. I just use Blacktack to stick my speakers to the stands, it's stronger than blutack and as my speakers are black it does not show.

The whole point - sorry! - of spikes is that they do pass through the carpet weave and any underlay. Standing anything ON a carpet, conversely, does flatten it. Just look under your chairs or a table!
