FLAC files streamed from NAS always show .flac file extension. Why?

Apologies if answered elsewhere but the search function isn't working for me in the forum and please move to appropriate sub if needed. My music library exists on my NAS (Synology DiskStation DS115j) and the Cambridge CXN and Ruark R2i play all the MP3 files without issue, display artwork and TITLE for each track. However, the FLAC files always show the file extension e.g. (folder - Artist/year. Album/track. Title)MP3 - displays in streamers as "The Who - Who's Next - Baba O'Reilly"FLAC - displays in streamers as "The Who - Who's Next - Baba O'Reilly.flac" I've been through the tags and the FLAC and MP3 files are identically tagged so why do FLAC files show the file extension?

I'd hazard a guess that the streamer software is choosing to ignore a file extenstion in the normal format of [xxxxxxxx.123]

But because FLACs are [xxxxxxxx.1234], 4 characters in the extension, then it's probably thinking it's not an extension so displaying it.

flac is designed to do that - its a good thing

I'm not convinced by that argument, Sonos doesn't show the file extension when playing flac files (which is pretty much all I use). Neither does the android Poweramp app.
