I'm surprised you liked the Chord more than the Bryston.

Your description of the Mc Intosh is similar to how I would describe my AMS35i...though my amp does give a reasonably rich presentation, with a midrange that's not far off a valve amp....yet gives a "hear-through" quality/detail, combined with slam and amazing transient response (which is always stricking in a really good amp)

I have also come across isolation products that make certain amps sound worse.

I prefer the Bryston smoother sound defo - but the soundstage, clarity and overall presentation is better on the chord. We are comparing stereo amp to multi channel and the chord per actual channel of amp is a lot more expensive. I was going to list them side by side maybe that would have been better sorry

I watched your latest video (party hat/crown suits) ;-)

Anyway I decided to follow your advice and hook the TV up to my Oppo HA-1/Emotiva/PM-2 headphones via optical to see if the differences in the Dirac on/off test could be easily heard. There's no mistaking the clear improvement in clarity and the taming of that boomy bass (in comparison) when Dirac is not engaged. Obviously I know the benefits of the Dirac system so needed little convincing, hopefully others will see the light too. The recorded sound quality is superb. Just wanted to say keep up the good work as it's apreciated.

Thanks Lion I appreciate the kinds words - I thought the video was very clear as you say - which is good for when I move to other comparisons.

My next project is in - this one is going to make CNo have kittens.

All I am saying is - I am going to call it a Best Of British Series

I meant in a good way

Its got 800 in the title and is seriously big and heavy and almost as beautiful as me
Is it something Nu?

That would be my guess....not an AMS, but very interesting nonetheless. (First kitten being delivered as we speak).*biggrin*

First Video for the McIntosh MC152 just gone on - Full review coming soon. Needed a bit more time for this one

Let me know your thoughts on the sound quality on this one please..??
good review on the McIntosh power amplifier ( shame its £6000 )

i thought the sound was good on this one up there with the luxman power amplifier I thought I have looked at the McIntosh amplifiers myself but put off by the price tag but never heard one .

the cord power amplifier I did not like it I also so thought the sound sounded like you was getting some sort of reverb of the top end it sounded like the amplifier could not manage some parts of the song right it also sounded a bit bright .

Internet via the satellite and website restrictions in place. I can't wait to get back home and see your videos Ellisdj. The response here tells me you're doing a splendid job of it :)

The Best of British

This is the first of my new series of videos and reviews :)

2nd Kitten now delivered.....when is the main review...and don't forget to give link.

All you need now is a Klimax DS and you will have a "really proper system". *diablo*

You're playing a very interesting, but potentially wallet-busting game!

I had 2 ideas in mind - One was I need an amp good enough to do the dacs I want to test justice - that was the first thought.

Second thought I saw the NuVista in the flesh and it just has that take me home appeal. The Top is just beautiful being able to see into the amp.

It really is something inside - 2 of the largest torodials I have ever seen in it.

Third thought based on what you said CNo about the sound I thought it would be a good match with the Dacs and Kefs.

Not even listened yet properly - day job is in the way and its way too hot.

I know all about very solid build, lots of heat and a beguiling sound.

Will be interesting to see if it creeps to the top of your list. I take it that you are not bypassing the pre and so using it as a full Integrated amp.

Yes CNo - yes using it as a full Preamplifier so I can test different Dacs.

I didnt even think to test it in HT mode as a pure amp - Great Shout My Man!!

This is the first of my new series of videos and reviews :)

Do me a favour Ellisdj, tell me what's going on in the video!

If you really want best of British, you must have Harbeth speakers on display

Don't worry Mac; you haven't missed anything. It's just panning over a Chord DAC and a MF Nu Vista 800 amp. Setting the scene, so to speak.

With that musical fidelity that you have does it come with a remote control ? If so does it work properly as I remember when I had a musical fidelity A3 cdplayer years ago the remote control was temperamental as the company used to spend more money on the components and the remote control was a afterthought .

The Remote with the AMS35i is the exact opposite.....it's hewn out of a solid chunk of Aluminium and would break your toe if it fell on it. Very impractical. I use a Linn one for the volume, as it's just too cumbersome.

It must have cost a fortune....and to be honest, I'd rather have a cheaper one and saved some money.
