I’m sorry this Spectre - it’s not my cup of tea. I like this genre but when it’s done badly. Forgive me, but being brutally honest as Simon Cowell....

This is like all the stuff done on computers in bedrooms, put on soundcloud, just picked for repetition with absolutely no music in it. It’s talentless. The first track is heavily sampled and at its core it’s just bing, bong, bing, bong. A few key changes. Then it’s looped with volume increasing. I reckon I could get a computer to write this in half an hour if I practised with the software.

Where's your retirement home located mate? I may drop in so we slurp mint tea and play some Elvis 45s. *biggrin* He played 'black music', edgy stuff! *lol*

How about this?

Yes thats sound like my dads taste.,lol. I love good trance, hip hop, House, techno and all the styles but this isn’t good stuff in that genre and it’s not musically well written imho.

I agree not anywhere near the talent with autechre to the likes of massive attack, leftfield, the prodigy, underworld etc. Has to be some element of melody in music for me to enjoy it.

i was in Essex as a teenager and used to go to Braintree barn, a nightclub rave place where mr c used to play from the shamen as a resident dj, as well as the prodigy, and people likes shades of rhythm. All the early acid house stuff would be playing like Derrick May, the scientist, 808 state, n-joi. A real hotbed for acid house music. The guy from n-joi Nigel Champion actually went to my school (ironic Ed Sheeran later did too)

There was also a nightclub called tootoos in frating near colchester and oscars on clacton pier, which used to play really good stuff.

Remember reading a good article back in the day about MR C. Mixmag or DJ, was actually pretty shocked at the time as I always thought he was just a singer/frontman!
Sounds like you had some good times back in the day, nearest I can get to that atmosphere nowadays are festivals!

This is a little too ‘written by a computer for me’

In the techno genre of the 90s, how about the uk's ‘Children of the Bong’ - track called ‘ionospheric State’

That's complete garbage, I'm sorry. I prefer some Wagon Christ.

I can’t find anything musically pleasing in that if I’m honest - it’s a rather flat ‘I love acid’ with little else going on in the music, that track iospheric State has tempo changes, different riffs, more involved samplinG. I can pick the melody out in the track, there isn’t one in ‘I love acid’. Music devoid of melody is nothing imho.

This is a classic from Laurent garnier

OK. I may suffer through that, somehow.
