Any favorites? Quest would know few good ones.

I really liked the intro music on Stranger Things. Makes me crave something synthy.
Try Tangerine Dream’s new album Quantum Gate.

Now that's what I'm talking about. What a comeback after Froese's passing. Very nice album by any standards. I drifted away reading about Saturn's Hexagon, Tabby’s Star, non-locality... simply gorgeous and mind bending.

I really like It Is Time To Leave When Everyone Is Dancing
That track reminds me of Tycho - it’s similar to the last couple of minutes of A Walk from their album Dive, which starts off in a Boards Of Canada mood.

My favourites in electronic genre of well known ones (some less so);

What? No Stockhausen, Clock Dva, Josh Wink, Derick May, Richie Hawtin, Aphex Twin, Luke Vibert, DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, Laurent Garnier, Portishead, Massive Attack, Brian Eno, Marshall Jefferson, Stacey Pullen, DJ Hell, Autechre, Jean Michel Jarre...

yes I have pretty much all those but I didn’t list all. Derrick May was one of the founders of the acid house genre which kicked off the whole dance, house and progressive dance music scene - likes of underworld and leftfield, massive attack etc. I like the early Aphex Twin, selected ambient works, but lots of it is very varied.

Laurent Garner is good too with a cd by mixmag which I’ve got. I think it’s mixmag volume 2. The piano deep in it track I think it’s called. I wouldn’t call portishead electronic in the dance genre, more trip hop like Tricky, whose album maxinquae was sublime, but electronic in the overall genre I geuss. I like Brian eno Apollo atmospheres album. Tracks like deep blue day are sublime. Autechre is in the electronic dance genre but jean Michelle Jarre, who I like too, is probably new age I’d say. You’d have to put chicane in the list too I’d say. Also we missed out kruder and Dorfmeister stuff.

Some good music in this thread for sure.

But no ORB or FSOL??

Sacrilege!!!

yes albums like lifeforms fsol, a bit more derivative ambient like The orbs recent album too. I’ve got a really good mix album called the cream of ambient visions, which is very good.

but on the ambient score what about sabres of paradise too. Sabresonic 2.

ultramarine don’t come up in these types of threads and their album ‘every man and woman is a star’ is very unknown and superb. I think of that stuff like dj shadow and Amon Tobin as being more commercial electronic stuff, whereas stuff from the likes of leftfield are commercial but just universally well known as they are so good. Check this out;

https://youtu.be/bTUTeE3yvRk

What about Carl Cox, can’t believe he got missed out.

Sabres of paradise!? Damm that is a blast from the past, good call. Always have a soft spot for the Orb, towers of dub get played alot even if it does occasionally set the hounds off!

As for FSOL, well Papa new guinea is a true anthem that has more remixes then most but I recently listened to Tales Of Ephidrina on vinyl and it sounded superb!

Already have the Renaissance The Mix Collection vol. 1 but nice one for the link.

Carl cox was a legend, his 3 deck mixing sets at the eclipse were second to none!

Slightly off topic did anyone get out to many places back in the day?
I was mainly raving as opposed to clubbing but used to love Club UK/ Traffic only times I went to MOS was on AWOL nights.

i was in Essex as a teenager and used to go to Braintree barn, a nightclub rave place where mr c used to play from the shamen as a resident dj, as well as the prodigy, and people likes shades of rhythm. All the early acid house stuff would be playing like Derrick May, the scientist, 808 state, n-joi. A real hotbed for acid house music. The guy from n-joi Nigel Champion actually went to my school (ironic Ed Sheeran later did too)

There was also a nightclub called tootoos in frating near colchester and oscars on clacton pier, which used to play really good stuff.

Or on the portishead theme, a bit of a trip hoppy electronic tune with a great melody and super vocal.

frances ashman - peculiar groove (the theme tune to the film nil by mouth with ray winstone etc)

Kraftwerk: Computer World.

IMO virtually all Electronic Dance Music is derived from this genuinely innovative and pioneering album.

It's as fresh now as it was when it was released in 1981. Okay, their earlier albums defined/created the genre, but this is the one that you can actually dance to. In fact it's practically impossible to stay still when it's playing......

Electro might like FKA twigs LP1, me thinks.

Gil Scot Heron and Jamie XX surprisingly boring stuff. TBF I've never been much into electro pop.

I’m sorry this Spectre - it’s not my cup of tea. I like this genre but when it’s done badly. Forgive me, but being brutally honest as Simon Cowell....

This is like all the stuff done on computers in bedrooms, put on soundcloud, just picked for repetition with absolutely no music in it. It’s talentless. The first track is heavily sampled and at its core it’s just bing, bong, bing, bong. A few key changes. Then it’s looped with volume increasing. I reckon I could get a computer to write this in half an hour if I practised with the software.

Where's your retirement home located mate? I may drop in so we slurp mint tea and play some Elvis 45s. *biggrin* He played 'black music', edgy stuff! *lol*

How about this?
