Thanks Clare, it is strange when I go to Zinio.com and search for what hifi it doesn't show me the mag.

Anyway got the my first digital edition and it's great to read the mag at same time as UK readers. However I do have few comments, I think the price of digital edition is little bit high if I compare it to print edition which is 48.00 - 16% WHFS&V reader discount and I don't get the lovlely sennheiser headphones also

.

Also what about readers who wants the print edition as well as digital edition? I also noticed the digital edition is not as sharp in colours as print edition and other mags, the zoom of text is there but it is not as friendly as some other mags in which double click converts text to true-text which is easier to read but I guess may be over time it will improve.

It's early days, and our first Zinio edition. There are several issues to be ironed out, including our position in the Zinio 'newsstand', and as Clare has already said, there will be a variety of subscription plans available in the near future.

Hi WHF team, any news on rates for current mag subscribers, as I go on my holidays at the end of next week and it would be nice to have the latest edition on my IPad. THX

Not yet, no - but we're putting systems in place to offer a combined subscriptions package.

At the moment it looks like it'l be available to existing subscribers when they renew their subscription, and offered as a combined deal to new subscribers.

But still lots of logistics (not least the fact that there's VAT on the digital edition but not on the paper one!) to iron out first. We'll update you when our subscriptions team have a firm offering to shout about.

Sorry if this had been asked before.

But will the digital version have the same exact contents as the printed mag?

Will it have the ads as well as the full buyers guide?

Thanks.

Yes.

Thx Clare, looks like the mags going on a little trip then.

Indeed - though that will vary from country to country, I believe. And it's still @£1 cheaper than the paper version - and so much more environmentally friendly and archivable 🙂

Understood and I'm not complaining about the price, but in the news story and in the mag itself it says it's "£2.99" (no mention of local sales tax), which some might feel is misleading...

Well I just subscribed to the digital magazine and it looks pretty good online, but when I download it to my zinio reader, I get a "license failed" status.
That has probably nothing to do with the magazine itself but it's not the first time that this happens with a digital zinio magazine (it happened a few months ago too).

But I'm looking forward to be able to view the magazin on my pc, on- and offline.

The digital edition is an excellent idea. I have just downloaded the iPad app and bought the latest edition of What Hifi.

I live in China and it drives me mad having to pay almost 10 quid for a copy of What Hifi in Hong Kong.

Well i've clarified the '+ VAT' point on the news story, just in case....

I was also surprised when I saw the invoice on my paypal, I think Zinio should clearly state the price including VAT. Wonder why so many companies still follow this practice when there are clear EU guidelines that all prices should be displayed including VAT.

By the way I am still purchasing individual digital copies and waiting for clarity on monthly subscription pricing for those who also have printed edition subscription.

There was also no Papa day discount, also we need to dig deep to find WHS&V on zinio compared to other mags wonder if it's the popularity issue or Zinio's margins issue

I've bought the lats two mags on zinio and here are my fidings so far:

-the price is a good

-the user interface is sluggish and somewhat frustrating

On the first point: I'm saving about 6 euros on each mag, no trivial amount.

On the second point: I always need to zoom in to be able to read. I can set a default for zooming; this sometimes works, most of the times the default button doesn't respond. When zoomed in horizontal scrolling sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. Can't find any setting to set this right, either. I'm using mac os 10.5.8 with a magic mouse. Both firefox and safari show the same behaviour.

Anyone knows how I can set the default zoom right and scroll horizontall while zoomed in?

When I view the mag on Zinio using my MacBook Pro, clicking on the little magnifying glass bottom right brings up a box with a 'set default zoom' button. Click on that and it should do the trick. I have no problem scrolling horizontally or vertically in either Safari or Firefox, so not sure why it's happening to you. I'm running OSX 10.6.5.

Question WHF team,

I would like to try out one digital issue of the mag but have a few questions.

1. Why does it take me to a Zinio page and asking me to register?
2. I want pay using PayPal. Will it be paying to Zinio instead?
3. Can I access the magazine on multiple devices? IPad, Mac and a PC?
4. Can I save the digital mag on my hard drive?
5. Once payment made, will I have instant access?
6. Will there be an invoice or receipt given for the purchase?

Answers 3, 5 and 6 - very digital answers there are 🙂

Thanks.

Off to Zinio now.

Hi Clare,

I wasn't able to find any mention if WHF is planning to support Apples Newsstand? It would be much easier to load a subscription or a one off copy using Newsstand rather than using a website to view and create another registered account.
