I'll be curious to hear how it is, could compliment my AVR4520 nicely!

First impressions will come today.
Hi Gel

Is this the 3313 your waiting on?

Yep, being delivered today. It cost me £405 from Superfi!
Nice one Gel & a very good price indeed :)

Make sure you download all the firmware first (not that you need telling I'm sure)

Look forward to your review :)

once you've connected to the internet via the ethernet cable, press the setup button on remote, go into general settings and scroll down to firmware update Gel, then click on it to force it.

Ah okay. The picture looks very clear without an update.

First impressions are that it is very good. Load times are the best I have seen, and the picture is very clear with nice detail. Motion is very good.

It might be slightly better than the other Blu-Ray players I have tested but not that much in it. It is a very good player though.

Very similar for picture quality on first impressions. It loads quicker though. I can't fault the picture quality. I still love my Pioneer but it might be slightly better - not 100 per cent sure though. Blacks are very good on it! Not sure if I will keep it or not. I think I prefer it to the Marantz 7007ud and Cambridge Audio 751 and the Oppo 103 too. I will post more after more of a demo.

You've given a good first impression review Gel :)

Well apparently the PQ improves even further with the up to date firmware, as there was an issue with the contrast not being displayed properly, I however got the player after the update so I can't compare, but on other forums people who can was saying how much better the picture was after it.

So your best of demoing more after you've done the firmware Gel :)

I await your further review :)

How do you exactly do the update because I have never done one like this before? What exactly is involved?

Just simply connect the ethernet cable to the player, click on the setup button on the remote control, go into general settings, then scroll down to firmware update and then just click on it, and it just starts to download it, you'll get a progress bar on your plasma screen showing you it's downloading in percentage, its just like downloading updates on your laptop.

Then after the update it tells you to press select to reboot, job done :)

How do you exactly do the update because I have never done one like this before? What exactly is involved?

If your TV was calibrated you would never had backed the 7007 Gel I dont think - fautless playback- impossible to properly tell without a calibrated tv - thats where your money should have gone mate ;)

You know this deep down

Both have come from the same manufacturer and share components. I think ellisdj means gel would never have sold the Marantz if his TV was calibrated.

Although, gel sold his Oppo after the Marantz as he wanted money to buy an iPad. So he would've sold the Marantz instead in any case. ;)

Also Gel is really into his pioneer player, don't think you'll budge on that eh Gel ;-)

Like I've mentioned before I used to always be testing other players, It became an addiction, until the family came along and restricted funds with the Mrs giving me my limits, ha

I am not entirely sure what I am going to do at the moment! I have just ordered an Xbox one too, but I am expecting that Blu-Ray player not to be up to standard. I have been really impressed with this Denon though, my list of Blu-Ray players go:

1. Denon 3313

2. Oppo 103

3. Marantz 7007

4. Cambridge audio 751 didn't work

5. Pioneer 55

So I do prefer the Denon to anything else, but still not sure what to do! The picture is seriously good but I am not 100 per cent sure whether to keep it.

It is a very clear picture, blacks seem stronger.
