DacMagic and the Usb input?

Are there benefits in soundquality on the usb input over the digital coax/optic.

I use the dac with my Playstation 3 and mediaplayer mainly for music playback.

Both PS3 and mediaplayer have a usb slot but i'm not sure these slots are outputs for music that goes straight to the DAC.

How does it work??
