Dear all, I have a Cyrus 8vs2 which I am using to drive the tweeters with a Cyrus X Power connected to the bass driver. The CDP is the Cyrus CD8SE & the speakers are PMC FB1+, the CDP & both amps have PSX-R power supplys. My questions are regarding the new 8XPd / 8XPd Qx - would I gain a significant improvement? (if yes where; bass, mid, treble, soundstage, control, etc), also the 'Qx' part of the 8XPd Qx - would this give any benifit?

Oh no you've missed the boat! Cyrus were doing a trade in deal where any Cyrus integrated could be upgraded to the current xp, xpd, xpd qx, for about £900 less than you'd normally pay. Get in touch, they may still honour it.

I've heard that the Q DAC option gives you about same sound quality as the DAC in the CD8SE so probably not worth it unless you've got other digital sources that can take advantage of it.

I would wait a bit as second hand prices of 8vs2's are low at the moment as Cyrus have flooded the market with trade-in ones from their birthday deal.

I have just read in WHS&V a non 'd' version of the 8XPd is now available which has no DAC: am I correct in thinking I would not use the DAC as the one in the CD8SE is on the same level or better?

Unless you're a Cyrus fan and have to have to latest kit then its not going to be enough of an upgrade for the money.
