Hello all,

Apologies in advance if this comes up as a duplicate post

for some reason my first post has disappeared.

anyway,im currently looking to purchase my first TT

After hours and hours of looking at reviews, this is what i think im going to settle on

Rega rp1

pre amp (not sure.maybe the rega preamp)

Q acoustic 2020i

I have around 1000 euros to spend on this

Would any of you wise souls be able to give me recommendations please?

does this sound like an ok set up?

any alternatives you could recommend?

what cables would be best to go with this?

thanks in advance

You'll need an integrated amplifier to power the speakers too. The pre-amp provides equalisation and increases the level of the signal from the TT up to 'line level' only. So if you were to choose an amp with in-built phono stage you won't need the rega pre-amp.

Pro-ject Debut Carbon would be a better turntable. (£269)

I would buy an integrated amp with a built in phono stage. (others can advise better than me on a good one in your budget.

Q Acoustics 2020i are great speakers (I'm currently selling mine on eBay), but also consider Dali Zensor 3's ( I got mine for £239)

You should find an easily good enough amp for £250, then you've got a bit of cash left for speaker cable. Some Van Damme Blue or 4mm OFC would be plenty good enough, then you're away.

Whats the secondhand market like around you?

Failing that, stay with deck and speakers, and look for a denon integrated with phono stage that falls in budget.

And don't fret too much about cables at the moment. Though obviously you'll need some ;)

Your choice of system looks good to me. Can you audition - I take it you're in France?

I personally prefer denon amps to marantz, strange, as they are the same company. Dont worry about cable too much, if you can find van damme at the right money (2.5 mm for shorter lengths, 4mm if longer) its all you need for any system.
