Hello All,

Just after a little advice, I need a 3 or 4 metre sub woofer cable for my PV1. what is the best type of cable to go for?

I've looked at chord crimson plus, merlin mozart and QED signature.

Any advice and recomendations would be great especially from anyone with a PV1

Cheers

If you can find a deal on one id go for a PROFIGOLD OXYPURE subwoofer cable as its OCC copper (far higher grade than any that have been mentioned so far)

There were loads on ebay a few months back, unfortunately there doesnt seem to be now

Someone posted the below on other forums, whats peoples thoughts on this viewpoint?

"As a general rule, I think you should stay away from anything with a daft name. If nothing else, you know the manufacturer has wasted some of your money on its marketing department.

Given the frequency range of a sub, twin and earth mains cable would be OK, but this wouldn't shield the signal from interference. Any decent quality coaxial screened cable will be ideal, in fact satellite dish downlink cable is great - but tough to fit in an rca plug.

I will guarantee you that the vogon blaster, crimson minx, merlin muff, or whatever cable you choose will be no different than basic decent coax."

I've tried several different sub cables (5 on counting up) on my M&K sub-woofer, more for the hell of it than any other reason. I can honestly say I am a prime example of a fool and his money! The end result it I am now using anexpensive Chord Chameleon Silver Plus cable and my sub-woofer sounds absolutely the same. I hasten to add that I am a believer in the efficacy of good cable matching to ones system, which is why I have changed the sub-woofer cable so often. It just doesn't seem to work for sub-woofer cables for me.

Just buy a brand you're happy with, because in all honesty I have yet to hear any difference.
