How about speaking to Brent at fidelity audio. I believe he knows a little about CD players

. I dare say he knows more than anyone here. Put it this way many people have DIY'd their CD players based on on his advice and experience. I wouldn't be surprised for less than £500 worth of mods on the Marantz CD player you already have it could combat the very most expensive players made

Hay Sabbath. If your going to hang on to the ir dac then you might be interested in the external psu from mains cables are us...that'll eak out a bit more performance from it for a couple of hundred quid.mcru do them for a few dacs and seem to get good feedback. These are subtle upgrades though so don't go expecting the earth . thought I'd put it out there for you just in case your interested... they have a Web site and they also sell on the bay.

hi mark i am waiting for a demo on the naim cd players and naim dac v1 which will be next week at sevenoaks i went there yesterday to sevenoaks to have a look at the naim stuff and a chat with them about what i need to get out of my sound and they understood but there demo room was not ready yet so i could not hear any naim stuff yet but also talked about TT's too which i liked the look of a new pro-ject TT thats coming out but not out yet but the TT looks very old school which i like *smile*

Yeah.that'd be the classic....looks a bit like a Lp12...project aren't so daft and know that it'll sell by the bucket load.lol.The naim dac v1 does get the nod on the naim forum..you should maybe check out hi-fi corner on said forum to get an idea of what is what with naim gear.If your demoing cd players...start with the cd5xs....but I wouldn't pay that for a cd player....I'd be more inclined to buy a used 5xs at a little over 1k.But I know you're worries if something goes wrong and dealer backup is important to you.

Thought you would be better off going to Analogue Seduction near Peterborough, think they carry all those brands, plus a load of others like Astin Trew, Chord, Quad, Leema, Unison Research and Primare.
