Though I assume an advantage of the blu ray versions of goodfellas and godfather pt 2 over the dvd is that they are on one disc. ie no need to flip the former or switch to disc 2 of the latter, right?

That's probably the only reason I'd consider upgrading as I've decided not to re-purchase films I already own on dvd.

I think one of the big areas Blu-Ray wins over DVD which people generally fail to notice is with the colours - you don't really think about it unless you do a side by side comparison. When everyone was going mental about bad the Gladiator transfer was, I did a comparison with the DVD on the big battle scene at the beginning (supposedly the worst travesty in the transfer) - although it wasn't a side by side comparison the main thing that struck me was just how washed out the DVD version looked. But if hadn't compared, I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

Leon . (excellent sharp pic and sound)

Goodfellas ( sound excellent) pic not as big a jump from waht I remember

Godfather trilogy Copolla remaster( could do side by side with my brothers DVDs)

least jump in quality. but still noticeable especially closeups.

Also the soundtrack on top gun blu ray is a clear step up from the dvd.

Picture is pretty good considering how old it is too.

But especially the sound is fantastic
