i tend to buy s/h TVs for the bedroom these days not new ones just bought a 2016 Sony 48 inch with a warranty 6 months from a well known charity shop for £80 . this replaces my old Sony 2010 model 40 inch works great but wanted a bigger screen. Sony s/hTVs make great buys. I bought the TV from Lighthouse in Hutton Essex this is the 7 th TV i bought from them ,in 14 years now . tended to buy mainly Plasma TVs but now the last 2 have been Sony. As a second TV they great wendy prefered that to a new TCL as she did not like the controls but i sorted out the problem , the TV kept on going in shop mode sorted out after 2 years almost. Then sell them off at half price 2 years later . Is that not a bargain ????

My Panasonic 50 inch V10 (bought new in 2009) is at a friend's and still working well. I have a Pioneer 5090 Kuro bought second hand. Manufactured May 2008, bought from one owner 5 years ago and still provides a great pic. Paid £300 for it.

I still have my VT, in the bedroom now but still an amazing TV!!
Really sad they've stopped making Plasma TVs. OLED as good as it is, plasma's still had better saturation and contrast. Imagine how much further the technology would have advanced, if it was still in development?

Oh, AO just delivered my LG C4 65" OLED TV, why does it always look smaller in the showroom?

My Panasonic 50VT65 plasma is running strong for 10 years now, bought from ex-forum member gel for £900. Still no plans to replace it.
We still have one in the warehouse. Customer bought and paid for it years ago and said he would get us to install it after his kitchen extension had been finished.
We asked him every year for 5 years do you still want this TV. Then the manager of the branch he bought it from left and I don't think anyone else has ever followed it up

At this rate, I wonder how far did his kitchen get extended to!

Because the showroom is bigger than your room.
Thanks that's the point I was making.

A 65" TV you need to be 2.74 meters distance apart. In our lounge the distance is 2.70m, if I mount it on the wall it's 2.82m.
I didn't do the maths a 55" would have been better.
That's Ok I'm loving it!
If the missus wants it mounted on the wall, I can do that. 😊
So easy to be fooled when you're staring at it from the showroom until you take it home. Maybe this is the visual equivalent of placebo?

You'll get used to the size pretty quickly.

I’ve seen sites that tell you the size of TV you “should” have. I don’t care, the right size is the one that works for you. We have a 50” TV, we will never buy a 65” one.
Ditto. Although I live in a Victorian terraced house it used to be a shop, the front room is big enough to easily take a 65" without me sitting right against the back wall but I've got a 49" Samsung and it's plenty big enough for me.
