I have been told that I can use the B&W M1's as a pair of wall mounted stereo speakers in a room approx 3.5 x 5.5 m.

My concern is that these speakers are commonly found in the B&W MT30 package (surround sound system). Will they be any good as stereo speakers or should I avoid them or be looking at something else of the same size. I can't have anything too large on the wall or my wife will kill me!

i suspect you would be disappointed. Although good av package, they would lack bass in a simple stereo setup.

I looked at them for a 5.1 but chose the kef3005 because i preferred the center speaker, and i enjoy the music sound but it includes the sub.

If size really matters

and you can't find room for some bookshelve speakers then you might be happier with the M1s and a sub. I bought some AG micros for the kitchen, but only became happy when i added a small sub.

good luck
