Hi

Are stands really necessary (or would a solid wood base be OK) and if so which would you recommend for Mission 702 speakers at less than £100 pair?

Thanks

I would buy stands they are cheaper. Used ones for £10-£40. New ones are from about £40. Speakers should be positioned with tweeters around ear level.

Are Mission 702s floorstanders, if so, you dont need stands.

If the wooden bases really are solid and put the tweeters at ear height they might just work. Normally, dedicated stands tend to provide the best support. Though slightly over your budget I think the Atacama Moseco 6 (£120) would work well.

I have moved my speakers onto building blocks and I am staying with them. They do what stands are supposed to do and they do it well and they are very cheap.

Admittedly not for a living area unless you make them trendy looking but my listening room is an old workshop and I have painted the blocks black to match the speakers.

702e is a floorstand. Use spikes through carpet or shoes on hard floor.

702 is a standmount. Ebay has some adequate stands for little money. Tweeters at ear level is the biggest consideration for any speaker
