Kingpin Cartel - Ghetto. Classic house track, re-released on 10in vinyl. Turnstyle Records in Streatham. I would have bought The Orb LP or Pacific State but they had long gone.

I haven't spotted anyone mention buying and records during Record Store Day - only D@FH has mentioned stocking up.

At our local record shop, the queue started at 6am. I got there at 10am and almost all of the special releases had gone. Audio-t had a Rega 10 set up with PMC26s. I notice that Iron Maiden's Empire Of The Clouds is already on ebay and fetching £40.

In almost related news, I met Johnny (guitar) and Freaky (roadie) from Buffalo Summer. The long awaited second album is out next month. At last!

I wouldn't have minded the Orb LP, but I already have an original 'Pacific State' 12"which is readily available for not very much. As for Kingpin Cartel, means nothing to me, but then again I know very little about electronic music past the obvious, though I'm always willing to learn. *smile*

I couldn't believe we had our first in the queue around 11pm on the Friday night! I believe the second joined around 3am. Feel sorry for them with the weather the way it was! Still, it wasn't in vain, as he got the Bowie stuff he was queueing for, and he also got a free pair of headphones too for his troubles :)

I've had to work all weekend, won't get to my local before Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. The owner is holding a couple of bits back for me (PSB 7" and Future Sound of London) but it seems even more expensive this year than ever, I wanted the Grace Jones 12" but didn't ask for him to hold it because it's 18 chuffing quid! For a 12"! I like her, but... If he's still got any copies of The Orb album I'll cross that bridge when I come to it!

Doesn't that girl know anything about rock and roll? Tell her to google Down To The River.

She just did, and got Alison Krauss, whom she doesn't care for, but she has atleast heard of. *blum3*

I right click on a picture (usually 300 x 300 to 400 x 400 kind of size), copy image, then paste on here, and paste again in the pop-up box. I find any picture 500 x 500 or more is too big, and if you copy a picture below 300 x 300 it often doesn't show on the thread.

For example this GP picture is 300 x 300

Gregory-Porter---Take-Me-To-The-Alley---Cover.jpg

This one is 200 x 200 (which weirdly actually worked this time. Typical)

and this is 500 x 500

Bagged a copy of the 808 State Pacific 45rpm 12". Had forgotten how bloody awesome it is! Also, the good lady wife was treated to a reissue copy of The Cure - Standing on a Beach (not a RSD edition)....

£15 for the 12", which is pretty steep, but I must have listened to it about half a dozen times last night after work. Happily, the kids think it's pretty awesome too!!!

You can set the image size in the image dialogue box, so it doesn't particularly matter what size the original is. I think 300x300 is a good maximum size, particularly if embedding more than one image, otherwise the other poor mugs in the thread have to scroll and scroll... Plus, as luckylion has discovered, anything wider than the width of the thread UI here gets squished horizontally due to a bug in the forum software.

Finally got to my local this morning, he'd saved me the fsol, psb and I'd had the new pet shop boys on order for a couple of weeks. I'd missed the Grace Jones and requiem for a dream so I was forced to take the last copy of adventures beyond the ultraworld that was on the shelf! Nuisance...

Really was quite desperate to bag the White Stripes Peel Sessions, but due to a clash of calenders found myself racing at Castle Coombe this weekend (spanner twirling)..... which was annoying, but worth it.....

Don't know, my local was still fuming that he'd been invoiced for two copies and they never turned up as one of the big stores had thrown their weight around and had them redirected.

OK, two fold the reason I''ve purchased this emarrassing vinyl admission...

It's Surrender by Hurts... I need to desensitise myself from a recently failed relationship. She played it endlessly in the car whilst we drove around Ireland for a couple of weeks. Music can stir the motions of course but in this case ir's perforning an exorcism, oh and plus my daughter loves the album... Feel like I've been to confession! ;-)
