I came across a copy of Alison 'Krauss + Union Station, Live', an Original half speed master recording, box set of 3 discs, not been available for years, been on my wish list for at least a couple of years. Problem . . . ? it sells for silly money on the second hand market, anything from £275 - £500 depending on condition. :O Condition was listed as mint . . . price was sort of 'affordable' :? . . . swallowed deeply and cheekily, made an offer . . . offer accepted! My next 6 months vinyl budget blown in one hit . . . why not I thought, I have bought no vinyl for 6 months . . . then the tender hooks wait, will it be in the condition as listed? Delivered 'Special Delivery' the next day, very well packed, condition is mint, a result  Trouble is, it is so valuable do I want to play it? I listen to this album regularly on Spotify . . . I have played one side, sounds great . . . CJSF

Now's the time to invest in that Analogue to Digital Converter you've always promised yourself.

Hovercraft - Akathisia

Hovercraft - Experiment Below

My first purchases through Discogs.

Described as new, but damaged cover, scratches on the record, and warped. Not a good start, and most definitely, not new.

Did sound better on vinyl than CD though.

I really have been on vinyl the last few weeks, my poor little DAC is say there idle - partly due to the fact that I have gone from a NAS to a dedicated Mac Mini straight into the DAC but haven't ripped any CDs yet!

Dunno wether it's the Elicit, but vinyl is such a joy to listen - I can't explain why but just sounds so natural, rich, organic, fluid - I dunno it just makes me grin. BTW the biggest change to my system is my amp it really has stepped up the performance - really grips my speakers - push the volume up and it all sounds so controlled, open & transparent!
I am having a moment I will shut up and finish my bottle of Rioja !

I'm starting to track down stuff that I originally bought on CD, but wished I'd bought on vinyl.

I've tracked down both Hovercraft albums, and the dealer I bought it from had had the album in storage since he bought 5 copies when it was released 15 years ago. It's a shame about the condition though, especially as it was described as new, but I've managed to find another new copy on another site, and I've ordered it already.

I love Hovercraft, but it's not exactly easy listening,

Just ordered Chemical Brothers-Exit Planet Dust original in NM condition on Discogs from a 100% feedback seller, so hopeful it will be that good.

Received my brand new copy of Hovercraft-Experiment Below today, and unlike the copy I got through Discogs before (which I returned for a refund), this really is new.

It's what vinyl is made for.

I was playing a Bush Chemists dub LP a few years ago and my friend said it was only reason to own a turntable. He was/is a reggae/dub/soul fanatic. He tuts and sighs when I play anything "rock" or guitar based. Bass driven music only on vinyl, he claims. Slightly hard line perhaps, but I get his drift.

He's got an amazing system. Truly a house-rattler.
