Peter Gabriel - Passion-Music from "The Last Temptation Of Christ"

Orignal copies are hard to come by, there is a Geffen re-issue, but I have no idea of the sq on that, though I'd guess it was good.

I came across a copy of Alison 'Krauss + Union Station, Live', an Original half speed master recording, box set of 3 discs, not been available for years, been on my wish list for at least a couple of years. Problem . . . ? it sells for silly money on the second hand market, anything from £275 - £500 depending on condition. :O

Condition was listed as mint . . . price was sort of 'affordable' :? . . . swallowed deeply and cheekily, made an offer . . . offer accepted! My next 6 months vinyl budget blown in one hit . . . why not I thought, I have bought no vinyl for 6 months . . . then the tender hooks wait, will it be in the condition as listed? Delivered 'Special Delivery' the next day, very well packed, condition is mint, a result :dance: Trouble is, it is so valuable do I want to play it? I listen to this album regularly on Spotify . . . I have played one side, sounds great . . .

The Doors - Morrison Hotel. This is a Rhino reissue and sounds great but I have always found this the case with Rhino. Got it from HMV £12.99 Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85 - 92. This was an Amazon purchase for around a tenner which was a bargain but it needs a clean which cheeses me off when you consider it's supposed to be brand new. Aphex Twin - £12 Amazon haven't played,yet.

The Doors - Morrison Hotel. This is a Rhino reissue and sounds great but I have always found this the case with Rhino. Got it from HMV £12.99 Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85 - 92. This was an Amazon purchase for around a tenner which was a bargain but it needs a clean which cheeses me off when you consider it's supposed to be brand new. Aphex Twin - £12 Amazon haven't played,yet.

I have a copy of that on the way, but it's still in the post.

Could be a bad pressing rather than dirty. I have a Spiritualized live album which sounds awful, loads of pops and crackles, but not a mark on it.

I'm a bit concerned that they've skimped on the quality to get the price so low.

My copy should arrive within the next few days, but let us know how it sounds after the clean?

Well I must admit what I said was based on one listen to the first side I have just listened to the rest of the record and it sounds great so even tho a few pops and crackles still for a tenner a good buy but not top quality but for a tenner your not really gonna get,top quality are you ?

Our replacements for some damaged Boards Of Canada's Tomorrow's Harvest turned up, and QOTSA's Like Clockwork has been sitting there waiting for me. Nine Inch Nail's new album Hesitation Marks also turned up, along with Welcome Oblivion, by How To Destroy Angels. Nice that the last two come with CD copies too - bonus!

Went to a vintage fair today, fully expecting to be dragged around by my wife, looking at retro bits and bobs, and clothes.

But, to my surprise, some of the stalls had some records, and I came away very happy with some great buys at £2 each.

A very last minute trip to Rise Records in Cheltenham saw purchases of Man with a Movie Camera by Cinematic Orchestra and 'Round about Midnight by Miles Davis.

A lovely selection of vinyl in The shop...not loads of stock but really well chosen.

Mine's a serious duffer, sticking and noisy during the second track. Going back for a refund, or replace it with another Kraftwerk album, but I'm not having another of these, quality control are away on holiday.

Did you buy it as an investment...or to enjoy? Tough choice to make...or be really careful. My vinyl is usually tainted with Pinot rather than Horlicks.

I love Alison Krauss - very high up on my list of discs that I'd use to show what vinyl can sound like.
