Hi. I am looking for phono interconect for my system; Marantz CD 6003, Marantz PM 8003, speakers MA rs6. I wanted to buy Merlin Mozart or Cambridge Azur Reference but I am not sure. Maybe I should buy better one like Atlas Voyager, Atlas Navigator( almost 80 pounds), DNM Reson TBB100( 85 pounds) or Cambridge audio AUD 900( 79 pounds). I don't want spend more that 90 pounds. ( I like rock and pop music).

Thank you.

The only cables I've found that made any difference are Cardas, so I'd try them.

Unless my maths has gone haywire it's precisely the same value for money at .5m as it is at 1m

.

But I take the point: it would be silly to spend more.

The Luna 6, 1 meter is less than £34 online.

£60 as mentioned was printed on WHF? And the cable was reviewed as a £60 cable and given 5 star. £60 was a misprint in WHF? I guess. Sorry, did not make this clear.

So VFM at the correct price for 0.5 or 1 meter.

Chord Crimson

Chord Cobra 3

Atlas Equator

Black Rhodium Prelude

IMO they'd be the best 4 to choose from; see if you can get a demo set-up or some places will allow a home trial

If any of those are copper based interconnects, sharing an apparently similar "signature" to that found in Van den Hul's "The Name", Audioquest's "Turquoise" and "Copperhead" or QED's "Qunex" interconnects, then I'd buy this:-

http://www.computergear.co.uk/Productdetail.asp?Id=2027

Which does precisely the same job, without loss or gain compared to the others (i.e. it's exactly the same) and it'll set you back in the shops about £7.

I bought one on a whim and the Audioquest was on Ebay a week later. The cheapo wire currently sits between the CD player and amp.

EDIT: Here's the above linked cable's construction spec - compare to the others listed and see what you think. Think you can get the same one online for less than a fiver, which is about the price of two pints!

Cable Specifications
Inner conductor: Bare copper 10 x 0.1mm (x1)
Insulation: PE ID = 3.0mm (x1)
Shield 1: Aluminium polyester foil (x1)
Shield 2: Bare copper spiral shield 32 x 0.10mm (x1)
Jacket: PVC OD = 6.0 x 12.0mm
Connector: Gold plated
Colour: Blue

OK, steady Mr Spot. You're starting to sell those to me now...might be worth a wee play at that price

That's the 2m cable mate; the 1m version's a couple of quid less!

I am looking at buying the marantz cd6003 and I have the MA rs6s. Just wondered what you have in your setup these days? Do you still use the same equipment? I am looking at getting an old Arcam Alpha 9 amp to power these. Do you still use your PM8003.

Do you listen to your ipod or computer through this system or do you just listen to cds?

Thanks

Matt

merlin have a summer sale on still; the mozart and verdi are reduced and both good.

Hang on Tar

Did you just say that an interconnect DID make a difference???

I too was somewhat taken aback by that recommendation. Tarquinh, you need to explain. Have you done a blind test?
