Hello :)

I got a few question's about assembling a 3.1 audio system for my small appartment :)

The living room it's self is around 20 square metres, however the theater room is about 10 square metres, so 5X4.

for the 3.1 system i have kinda a budget, wich is around 3500 Euro.

I need a receiver, tough, will be either a Denon/Marantz or PIoneer, but not sure how to spend the rest of the budget, will i go for 2 small fronttowers, with a center, and will i buy the subwoofer later.

Or would i go with some bookshelfspeakers on a stand, add the subwoofer their, and buy the center later on.

I will post later on a photo of the room, tough, the speakers will sit pretty close to the wall.

In terms of speakers i have on my list to listen are:

-Kef Q900, but i think those will look to big in my room?

-B&w Cm8 SII, only thing i would think they could be bad in the room because of the rear ports, the speakers can be moved a lil bit from the wall, but well, maybe max 2 foot away.

Other speakers i also would love to hear are the Kef R300 and maybe the b&w cm5.

What i hope to accomplish wiht the setup?

It will be used for about 80 percent watching movie's and listening to 20 percent for music.

Music i listen is Rap, hiphop, the 80's,90's and some classic music .

I hope to get an audition some where during the big holliday in july, than i got some more spair time .

Thank you all for the future advice

Kind Regards

Boogie

p.S: before i forgot, around my area, i can listen to b&w, monitor audio,Dali, kef and i spotted also a Klipsch dealer nearby.

Kef R300 is a very good option. Also check Monitor Audio Silver RX and Apex series.

For AV receiver, look at YamahaRX-A1040 and Pioneer LX58. I've got Marantz SR7009 which is brilliant as well.

For subwoofer, I would highly recommend SVS SB1000.

This should come within your budget.

ty bigboss for the reply, i will look in to the kef r300.

I have a few blu ray movie's wich i will take with me for an audition.

If i would go for for example kef, would the kef r400 b subwoofer a good choice?

I don't like to buy online subwoofers/speakers, to much hastle if something wrong with an item and you know send it back in, in belgium we do have the standard subwoofers from the company's like the b&w asw10cm or like the kef r400b , or even velodyne.

If i wanted to try a svs, i would be needed to drive 2 hours to holland :)

If i would buy the subwoofer later, i might spend a budget of 1200 euro a side for the woofer, but than i will add that piece a lil bit later on .

Kef R400b is also very good. SVS offers better value for money. I've had Monitor Audio AW12 before which was brilliant as well. I rate independent subwoofer manufacturers more for producing high quality subwoofers. Velodyne is one such which you should demo.

alright, ty for the input, than i best go for a 3,0 system first, and try to audition some subwoofers later on :)

Are their also similair bookshelf types to the kef r300, or is that one the best in it's class? Like price/qualtiy wise :)
