i have a yamaha 2065. sounds awsome on B&W speakers. i have one problem though and that it shuts down at about -7db to -11db depending on the type of song after about 4 to 10 seconds from switching on. I have checked all wires but cannot find a problem. I have tested each speaker individually and the amp shuts down at the same level each time. i set the sound up using the auto microphone. no errors were found. I have bi amped the two fronts. All speakers B&W. 2 fronts 683, 2 rear surround 685, centre LCR 60 S3, 1sub ASW 650 Any suggestions on what the problem might be ? thanks Justin

Appears that the Amp is being over driven and is shutting down on internal protection.

-7db is fairly loud I guess, if I compare to mine, so that could be the issue.

It could be that you have quite a large room so the amp auto settings are a bit on the high side, so when asked to go to such levels the amp is shutting down in self protection, do you have the same problem with movies or is it just music

I do try and stress as often as possible that speakers that dip to 4ohms (which many do) do need more careful amplifier matching. You could raise the crossover point so that the amplifier is dealing with less bass (where the impedabce tends to drop), which should ease the load on the amplifier.

Are you playing your music in normal 2 channel mode? Does this happen with films too? Where is your crossover point set?

Yes Frank's point is reaaly valid, as once i tried the amp in movie mode, without the sub and it was working well during x-men the last stand and in the fighting scene in the beginning there was an explosion and all went out, the point being that when the amp was asked for too much bass the mechanism switched off, but while playing cds i' dont use the sub and all works fine, that is why I asked if it does it with music or films.
