This is VERY exciting news! Originally shot in 70mm and actually mixed in surround sound (I actually got the surround tracks in when I was at the BBC and remastered it for broadcast), although it's only been released with 2 track audio on disc thus far.
I'm checking with the PR agency to see what audio it'll have. Let's hope they do a full HD sound mix - or at least a 5.1. That rumble like a train in the distance will be fantastic!
Clare's right. Good film stock from this period IS Hi-Def per se. No doubt. No argument. Forget yer HD-cam Bournes. THIS should be demo material. Unless Paramount screw it up, of course.
I am assuming that will be the same encode that Sky showed in their Caine season earlier this year. They certainly contributed to the costs of the master. Anybody see it in HD, then?
