Biggest Upgrade Improvement? Rega Aphelion 2 or Aura?

I'm weighing up what my next upgrade might be and while, of course, some listening sessions will be necessary I thought I'd solicit your view as to which upgrade would provide me with the greatest performance improvement.

• Planar 10 with Apheta 3 - upgrade to Aphelion 2? OR
• Aria - Upgrade to Aura?

The rest of the gear is:

• Aethos
• Saturn mk3
• RS-10s (recently upgraded from RX-5s).

The fantasy upgrade as this point would be to replace the Planar 10/Apheta 3 with a Naia/Aphelion 2, but... that's a bit of a stretch (to say the least).

What is your current set-up lacking? It looks pretty good to me.

Anyway, a better cartridge is a good way to upgrade. Also Rega don't produce the best speakers, other brands will do a better job. Brands such as Dynaudio, Dali, Monitor Audio Silver or Gold would IMHO give you better value for money.

Going in that direction I would suggest, for the money, Rega is not always the way to go for any components however the OP has specified the changes he can see as a possible upgrade route.

Going in that direction I would suggest, for the money, Rega is not always the way to go for any components however the OP has specified the changes he can see as a possible upgrade route.

For me Rega turntables are a no brainer. Rega's heritage was built on the strength of their spinners. But due to more recent quality control issues I would think twice about their amps/digital sources, and speakers are a definite no. But that is based on my own fairly limited experience of the brand.

As the OP really likes the brand, I can't advise anymore than mentioned in my previous post.
