Alice Cooper with support from The Cult. Have to say The Cult blew them off stage musically. However, other than Ian, The Cult members played with nails in the boots, so Alice Cooper wins the theatrics hands down. Great compliment with the two together. Polar opposites.

PIL at the O2 Academy, Glasgow. John Lydon had a rant about the Sex Pistols series "Pistol" directed by Danny Boyle. I could barely make out what he was saying, but he seemed unhappy! Surprisingly, considering what I have seen so far, he suggested it was toned down from reality. If you like the Sex Pistols, highly recommended.

On the 5th March my daughter and I going to see Witchdoktors at The Half Moon pub in Putney. The lead singer and guitarist lives in our village. He gave me a CD a week ago and it's pretty good.

They are cross between New Wave acts from the late 70s and Dr. Feelgood.

Really looking forward to it as it'll be a chance to let our hair down for a few hours. The last 2 years have been stressful for both of us with Mrs. Ps self-isolation

First time I have sat at the computer, ready for tickets going on sale. Ticketmaster crashed and the Hydro website, which goes to Ticketmaster anyway, froze and I could not get any seat selections, but after a couple of minutes, got two tickets to stand and finally, after 25 years, will get to see New Order.

I checked again a few hours later and there are tickets available to sit, but I did not want to risk missing out again.

Kickin' Valentina at Hangar 18 last Thursday. Great fun band live. They don't exactly re-invent the wheel but, hey, that hasn't stopped AC/DC. Was chatting to Heber after the gig for about 10 minutes, mainly about golf! Good night out and keeping live music going.

Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express at Metronome, Nottingham last Friday night. Incredibly tight band and CP is a phenomenal phront man with an amazing ability to play the crowd (who were brilliant, too)! Still got more UK dates to come: superb contemporary, bluesy rock 'n roll with a dash of punk thrown in - don't miss them. What a star...

Wish I'd seen him with the Scaparis Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall Manchester (have it on DVD it's brilliant) my most recent concerts The Music of John Williams at Manchester Opera House with the Manchester Concert Orchestra and Music from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings etc again the Manchester Concert Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall. Taking my daughter and 4 of her friends to Anfield next year for Taylor Swift. Still can't believe they actually got tickets.

Oli Brown & The Dead Collective at The Patriot in Crumlin. Just the three EPs so far but plans are afoot for a new album to be recorded shortly. Oli's voice is getting better and better with age. Tickets were far too cheap at £15, though it was virtually sold out with about 350 people there. Support from Dan Byrne, who has now left Revival Black.

The Southern River Band at Thekla in Bristol. One of the most fun gigs I've ever been to. Just good old fashioned rock & roll, with comedy interludes between songs! Their debut album is out next month, but these guys are an out and out live band. I hope they're back before too long.

Greta Van Fleet at The Royal Albert Hall. The anticipation for this next is quite incredible. There is just an electric atmosphere in the audience from way before the start. There must have been 1,000 screaming teenage girls at the gig, as well as 1,000 men over 50 with a blues background. A band that caters for everyone. It is the first time I have ever seen and heard 1,000 teenage girls screaming through a 10 minute drum solo, and not screaming to be let out either. As for the seating at the RAH, nobody sat down. Just about the entire Hall were on their feet from start to finish. Even the fans in the circle boxes were standing.
They did 75 minutes in the first set and 90 minutes in the second set. For the start of the second set, Sam Kiszka appeared high above the stage playing the Henry Willis Grand Organ. Nobody in their wildest dreams expected that. Josh disappeared into the crowd several times, once to take selfies with the fans on their phones, once to hand out his tambourine to a lucky audience member and the third time to hand out white roses to the ladies down the front. How to milk a crowd! It was like Beatle-mania; I can't thing of any other way to describe it.
Best of all? It was filmed for a DVD release. The worst bit? The stage lighting. Sam in particular seemed to play in the dark all night when on the keyboards. Another unusual bit, Danny came of his drum kit for the acoustic set to play an 8-string mandelin for 'Waited All Your Life'. Not many percussionists do that. He then played a conventional acoustic guitar for 'Anthem'. That song was greeted with 1,000 mobile phones impersonating cigarette lighters!
All told, a sensational gig.
