Wireless Dongles (Sony TVs)

Does anyone know if Sony's wireless capable TVs can use any wireless dongle, or does it have to be Sony's? Sony's dongle is £70, a cheaper option would be good but I'm not sure is the connectivity is proprietry and doesn't accept a third party dongle.

I think it has to be the Sony model.

Unfortunately, you have to use the proprietry Sony dongle. Nothing else will work.

You can get a wireless extender and plug it into the ethernet port though...

You could use a wifi bridge, either an Open Media or Vonets. Other makes may be available. I currently use the Vonets VAP11G with my Sony KDL-37EX503 and it is usb powered. Cost me £25 from ebay.

While you can use a wireless access point, I'd recommend an N rated on (hopefully your router will support this) for the fastest transfer speeds, particularly useful if streaming content of your own pc.
