Wire World Island 6 v. QED Performance HDMI - cable does make a difference

Panasonic BD35 into Onkyo TX-308 via WW Island 6 HDMI cable led to sound drop outs and "snowing effect" with respect to the picture. Changed to a QED Performance HDMI cable, and neither of those two issues were experienced. Have a second WW Island 6 HDMI cable to do a comparison with (to make sure the first wasn't just faulty (if that is possible)). So, to me, cable does make a difference.

Update: www.hificables.co.uk (Steve) kindly replaced the Wire World Island 6 cable with the next model up (WIre World Chroma 6). Steve and his business were very helpful and I cannot fault that at all.

However, I can fault the Wireworld cable - no snowing effect this time, but still sound drop outs - mainly speech. I've turned off lipsync on the Onkyo 308, but it hasn't improved the problem.

Do we think the cable is just incompatible with my bluray player / receiver?

pity you did not try a hdml chord cable they are very good quality cables and yes they do make a difference, qed cables are very good though.

Id say theres a compatability problem between your player and amp. (theres one between my cd and amp if connected via coaxial). Theres no way a 2nd wireworld cable would have that effect (or id be shocked if it did)

Do yourself a favour and buy a super cheap hdmi off amazon (Look for reviews so you know theyre sound) as a secondary check
