Will the Samsung HD870 do?

Hi,

Im currently upgrading my system and need an DVD upscaler to go with my Panasonic 42" Plamsa (PX70)

Going to purchase Onkyo 605 and KEF 1005s (advice from the forum) but I am unsure whether the Samsung HD870 will do the above justice or I should go for something slightly more expensive?

Thoughts and recommendations welcome.

With that system I'd go for something a bit better, such as Denon's DVD-1940 (£250), which was our 2007 Best Buy in the next class up.

ok that seems sensible - however at that price wouldn't a PS3 be a better all rounder option with the Blu-ray option?

Yes PS3 will definitely be a better choice and does have better upscaling then Denon 1940 and you can play blu-ray plus games. Clare and Andrew both acknowledged this in one of a discussion thread. If you don't trust me try searching it, otherwise if by any chance Andrew or Clare read this they will confirm it.
