why none of new blu-ray and TV reviews talk about upscaling capabilities

I've noticed WHF recently doesn't mention anything about upscaling capabilites of new Blu-ray players or TVs while most of us still own hundreds of SD dvds and majority are still on SD freeview or Sky.

Recently LG 390 crowned the best blu-ray player in the market, how does it handle SD dvds and SD freeview? it would be helpful if you could mention what video upscaling chip is used for e.g HQV or Foroudja etc.

Thanks for the feedback; we always test the SD capabilties of any HD device - TV or Blu-ray player - and it should get a mention in every test; if it doesn't it's due to lack of space, not due to lack of testing. We'd certainly mention if it had particularly good/bad SD performance; if not mentioned, you can assume it's fine.

Incidentally, there's a Big Question feature in our next issue (with subscribers now; in shops by Wednesday) that covers off Blu-ray performance as you move through the price ranges, including their ability with DVDs.

Another thing I've noticed is that there's no mention of loading times, from off to play or standby to play.

Anything yet that can beat the PS3?

Again, if the loading times are significant (very slow or very fast), they are mentioned. For example, in the latest issue (reached today), the Cambridge Azur 650BD has its loading times mentioned.

I'm expecting one of the newer 2010 BD players (Panasonic in particular, going by its claims) to beat the PS3 in loading time...........it remains to be seen though.
