Why is it so?

Any reasons why the ProAc tweeters are always kept a little off to the sides than the rest of the drivers?! Every time I’m at my father-in-laws and listen to his ProAc + Primare combo, I get this odd feeling of why is it that the tweeter not aligned with the rest. He makes fun of me and ask me to get help of fix my “OCD”.

I’m aware of different looking speaker designs like the PSB Platinum M2 or the Kefs or the Tannoys with their odd arrangement of drivers. Has any one ever wondered about the visual asymmetry in this regard?

Any thoughts?!

I understand that it's so that you don't have to toe the speakers in but can leave them squared off. Not sure why you would do this other than to avoid firing any rear bass ports into corners. I guess it might give the best of both sound stage width and focus.

That really makes a lot of sence igglebert, thank you. But I'm still a bit more curious, is there anything more to this particular design?

I can understand him. In fact if I were him I wouldn't have let youÿmarry my daughter you nutter ÿ

Well, even suggesting buying some stands for the speakers gets odd looks from my gf's dad. I'd say stop while you're ahead.
