Hello,

I want to upgrade my old Pioneer VSX810 Home Cinema Amp for something shiny and new and have recently seen what I think are 3 really good deals.

Just wondered what people might think would be the best to go for:

Yamaha-RX-V467 @£165

Denon AVR1611 @£230

Pioneer VSX-920 @330 (Price includes £100 Pioneer vouceher)

For reference my speaker setup is:

Fronts - B&W 601's

Centre - Tannoy SFX

Rears - Q Acoustics QAV

Sub - Currently no sub

Thanks,

Dan

Wow Dan a mix match of speakers there mate.

Out of the list provided the pioneer VSX920 would be my choice, especially taking in to account you already have a Pioneer and obviously like the sound.

If I where you I would add the Yamaha 667 to the list as it's about the same price as the 920.

I would advise you go and listen to any you short list though, to make sure your happy with it.

FishMong,

As Markjaspi has rightly pointed out, your 'mix n match' speaker system would render it quite difficult to say with any certainty how any of these amps would sound with your set-up.

I would imagine that elements of cohesiveness, tonal balance and synergy would be largely absent, so it would be best for you to attempt a home demo (if possible at all) with your particular set-up to determine which sounds best to you.

As pointed out, since your current receiver is a Pioneer, that would appear to be the default choice if you are happy with the sound.
