I am currently running a Denon DV-2900 universal disc player, a rotel RA-1062 integrated amp, playing through Acoustic Energy AE-1 speakers. I listen to rock, alternative, metal, jazz, and some pop. My sound currently is clear, transperent and neat perfect in the mid range and high notes. However, a lack of bass is obvious especially for heavy rock.

I though about a subwoofer, but would consider full range speakers. Any idea where I should begin to upgrade? I have a budget of 1000 pounds.

Thanks,

Ken

Excellent amp and awesome speakers for rock music, you do however need a cd player that can kick and slam. For a around thoundsand pounds there is no better cd player out there that slam like a Audionet ART V2 (2nd hand price btw, new is £2.5K) and before you ask....yes, the Rotel and speakers will be good enough for it although the ART V2 will withstood any future upgrade with ease.....a life time investment

I am open to selling/trading any of my current equipment to upgrade so the answer is 1,000 pounds plus trade-in or sale of existing equipment.

Is the Audionet ART V2 available here in the States or in Canada? I will research that via google.

Thanks,

Should be - look at this. I was surprised you weren't getting enough bass from your listed gear, so Thaiman may be right about getting a CD player that digs deeper - I think it would also be worth trying at the same time a pair of PMC GB1i's (or even the DB1i's), which to my ears go as deep as you could possibly want, and then decide whether the player or the speakers is the culprit.

cheers

For a thousand bucks I'd audition Mordaunt Short, they make some good full-rangeish stuff.

Guys....

If the signal not up to the job! Mordaunt Short or PMC are not gonna help.

I just trade my Audionet ART V2 in and I am missing it already

True.. I'd probably get a new CD player first. Or a nice DAC.
