Can't believe it's almost 20 years old :O

It makes me feel old when I buy the 25th anniversary editions of albums I bought on the day of release!

Now playing R.E.M "Reckoning" original 1984 pressing.

🙂

A couple of live double LP's, courtesy of last weekend's car-boot..

Both recorded circa 1980, and both excellent recordings. Well worth £1.66 each

I thought tonight I'd play something thats not seen much action for a good while, and remembered this one..

What an amazing talent Randy California was.

.

Sticking with the Randy California theme, I'm now listening to the debut Spirit album...

Classic late 60's West Coast pysch rock. Jimmy Page ripped off the track "Taurus" for Stairway to Heaven.

It's funny that at one point Spirit were bigger than Led Zepplin . Who has heard of them now?

I suspect Jimmy would say that he was " inspired" by the track "Taurus" to write Zepplin's most boring and over rated song "Stairway to Heaven" !

I might give my own copy of Kaptain Kopter a spin later , even though I played it just a couple of months ago and it won't really be its turn to be played again for at least another couple of months .

I'm with you there Nick. That track, along with Meatloafs "Bat Out of Hell" just irritate the hell out of me.

It is not that they are necessarily bad songs ( better than I could do , I suppose) , it is that over the years they have been played so many times that they have become tedious . Add " Bohemian Bloomin' Rhapsody" to the ever expanding list .

Having said that , what I call music is just an unholy racket to most people . And long may it remain so ,

It is only shot if there is any sign of Cliff .

I've got The Living Legends by Cabaret Voltaire spinning at the moment . It's got the Missus's signiture tune on it ... Nag Nag Nag !

Thanks Clare

for bringing this album to my attention; got it last night & playing it again tonight. The sq is just what vinyl was made for; especially the 45rpm extra record that came with it

Another top notch recording from Camel, both in terms of musicianship and audio quality.

Andy Latimer, probably the finest guitarist you've never heard of.

First post in this section, for me, in a long time.

I've just had a wander to the record shop and bought these for a fiver:

Duran Duran - Decade

Genesis - A trick of the tail

Genesis

519n6Qu-41L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Michael Jackson - Bad

And for a bit of late 80's dance nostalgia:

Inner City - Paradise

Then I slow things down with:

Fank Sinatra - Songs for young lovers

Then, spurred on by Clare's thread, I bought my first Nat King Cole:

Stay as sweet as you are. I don't know if it's one of his best and I haven't listened to it yet. Anyone like it?

Not a bad haul for a fiver, eh?

Cheers Bretty you did me a favour, I was looking at the last copy on amazon but couldn't quite bring myself to click the' buy' button - couldn't justify the 38 quid for an album I've already got!! 🙂

You're welcome, Mitchy! I was going to get it from Amazon, too. I'm a little glad I held off, cos i'm not sure I like him from the first listen of the album I got yesterday!

I'm surprised this:

51nL6mpI-hL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

was in the £1 bin. The inner and outer sleeves are absolutely mint and the record is in great nick too. I won't comment on the songwriting yet, cos it's only my first listen, but the SQ is tip-top.

Also, it might be a slightly guilty pleasure, but seriously i'm loving this:

I bought it for view to a kill, but all the tracks are corkers.

......I should mention that I dragged the album out yesterday (it was a mega cheap purchase from local car boot sale) and the condition was horrendous! So straight to landfill with that one - may go 2nd hand as I'm still not going to spend 38 quid on one.
