I lost count of the times I saw them, I loved the mirage album, it was a shame Peter gardens passed away, moonmadness is a good album too, I wonder what became of Doug ferguson?

Never seen them myself, but I do like a lot of their stuff. Never heard Pete Bardens called Gardens before

(easily done, only joshing)

Andy Latimer a very underated guitarist IMO.

Crikey! Beefheart, Zappa and Al Green on one page! The quality control on this forum is on the up and up.

Yes, Charlie, 'W're Only In It For The Money' is a thing of wonder as is 'Zoot Allures'

Favourite Beefheart for me is 'Trout Mask Replica', 'Strictly Personal' and 'Clear Spot.'

As for Al Green, I love 'Call Me' and 'Al Green Is Love.' but he could sing the proverbial phone book and it would be better than just about anything else.

Tonight:

Larry Coryell-The Restful Mind

The Association-Greatest Hits

Quicksilver Messenger Service-Quicksilver Messenger Service. I'm just an old hippy at heart.

Mrs. J returned, so we've had:

The Visitors - Abba

They should have continued with more LPs that sounded like this one.

Revolver - The Beatles

A Treasure - Nick Drake

The Bridge - David Sancious

No Bob, no FZ, no DVV but a good few hours of listening.

Earlier I was listening to "Brilliant Trees" by David Sylvian, But I still think "secrets of the beehive" is the best, Orpheus is so good. Nice to mooch through the album collection!!

I tried to turn Charlie onto Secrets Of The Beehive and Gone To Earth, but I never heard back from him, so I'm guessing he didn't like them.

I have to admit, if I was to hear Sylvian for the first time now, I'd probably hate it.

I like to think my taste in music has always been a bit "different" but Sylvians later stuff is hard going!

Haven't heard anything since the album he did with Robert Fripp, "The First Day".

I'm more agnostic than non-believer in the power of Dave. But yes it is an acquired taste I didn't quite acquire!!! Thanks anyway, BBB.

Currently listening to:

A side each of:

Irish Heartbeat - Van & The Chieftans

Green - REM

Spirit Of Eden - Talk Talk

Then to close proceedings the title track of David Sancious' The Bridge.

I'm looking for a cart upgrade. Any suggestions out there?

I'm currently using a Goldring 2400.

It is now law to only mention Nagaoka at this point.

.

Sorry about not responding earlier, am trying to set up an alarm and auto reply as follows if anyone mentions changing cartridge:

Have you thought about a Nagaoka, they are really good.

So would the Nagaoka MP200 be more than a sideways step from my Goldring?

If not, what else is recommended in that range?

Cartridges are very hard to judge and appraise before buying - its a suck it and see approach - you need to try a few.

Floyd Droid is the man - he know his carts

Yes, true enough.

I'll speak to my hi-fi dealer and await any further insights on here or elsewhere.
