1) Blood On The Tracks - Bob Dylan

Perfect for capturing that end of Boxing Day feeling of good will to all, and for inculcating a warm fug of bonhomie.

2) New Day Rising - Husker Du

Gentle acoustic ballads - a balm for the soul.

3) III/IV - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals

A Christmas present, gratefully received in my current self-imposed vinyl purchasing embargo.
Sounds great in terms of vinyl presentation, but a little tired in terms of another Ryan album. My 13 or 14th - and the thrill is gone. This sounds like anything and everything else he's chucked out since the golden period that ended with the Love Is Hell EPs, way back when.

4) Obey The Time - Durutti Column

Lost moments from the fringes of "Madchester" time. Little shards of genius abound.

Rarish early WWA006 pressing (from the original Vertigo masters) Sounds good - even 40 years on...

Not heard this for ages, and the vinyl version blows the CD version out of the water...

My 40 year old copy of this has made in Italy on the record centre. Great album.

Picked up a copy of Elvis Costello & The Attractions "Blood and Chocolate" today, and am currently listening to that.

I sold a load of LPs last year, when out of work, and this was one I got rid of, and regretted it ever since. Strange thing is, the copy I bought today, is the actual one I sold off last year!

When I bought this on CD, when it came out, I was Radiohead-ed out. I'd been a massive fan since '92, when I heard 'Creep' on the radio for the first time. I've bought everything they've done on CD, even paying silly amounts for Australian and Japenese imports of their albums, Ep's and singles. When I listened to 'In Rainbows' for the first time, I was a bit like 'whatever' and never listened to it again.

But, now I have it on vinyl and have given it a few listens. It's brilliant. I can't believe I dismissed it for three years! I think it could well be their most consistantly good album since 'The Bends'. It's re-ignited my love for the band. As a result, I've just ordered:

It's a four disc jobbie. I can't to hear them.

3 of the 10 albums I bought yesterday, 4 from a shop and 6 from a record fair. I didn't know the record fair was on it was lucky the wife spotted the placard in the street. Spent a pleasant hour plus in there, sifting through what they'd got and listening to what they were playing including Family Burlesque, I've not heard that in years. Better that traipsing round the shops. Cost me £62 altogether for ten albums and one was a double.
Jennifer Warnes "Famous Blue Raincoat"
Boston "Boston" and
Magnum "On A Storytellers Night.

Another new one, this double cost me £7. A 1985 WEA record and I would think it lacks the warmth of what the original recordings would sound like, but the only Doors I have on vinyl so far.
My wife sarcastically asked me if I had any wacky baccie to smoke whilst listening to it.
