Sheer Heart Attack - Queen (2nd hand, purchased in Wantage today)

A Day At The Races - Queen (2nd hand, purchased in Wantage today)

Last night, late one again including tracks from the following:

Katy Lied, Aja & Gaucho - Steely Dan

Who's Next - The Who

Rubber Soul - The Beatles

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Circuital - My Morning Jacket

Bend Beyond - Woods

Something/Anything - Todd Rundgren

Babble - That Petrol Emotion

The Visitor - Jim O'Rourke

Easy listening meets avant-garde. Less tune, more texture in a good way. I can imagine if I were a recovering heroin addict or similar, this would be both blissful and disturbing. As it stands, it is currently attempting to help me nullify the pain of tonight's football results. And I'm not referring to the Oxford v Rotherham game.

Next, after Jim's finished his mildly, mind-bending trip, it will be Captain Beefheart's The Spotlight Kid.

Last nights listening was all a bit '80s and included the following -

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Searching For The Young Soul Rebels

Sade - Diamond Life

Visage - Visage

ABC - Lexicon Of Love

"The Hot Spot" soundtrack, on Analogue Productions, 45 rpm.

When the sleeve notes are written by Dennis Hopper, and that Miles Davis would "punch out his heroin dealer", you know you're in for some great music!

Tonight I started with

Country on the click - The Fall

I am now listening to

Foxtrot - Genesis

Then it will be

If Not Now Then When - Ethan Jones

Push the Sky Away - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

The King Of Limbs - Radiohead

all washed down with a nice glass of single malt.

David Bowie - Heathen

Jim Ford - Harlan County

Lord Huron - Lonesome Dreams

Nat King Cole (45rpm) - Love is the Thing (after watching Sleepless in Seattle for Mother's Day) 🙂

Vinyl Sunday

Grandmaster Flash - The Further Adventures Of

Adam Ant - Blueblack Hussar

Devendra Banhart - What Will We Be

Dexys - One Day I'm Going To Soar

Bauhaus - 4AD ep

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead 12"

Brakes - Give Blood

Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet

Bobby Womack - Bravest Man in the Universe

Doors - LA Woman

The XX - Coexist

Laura Marling - A Creature I Don't Know

The Visitor - Jim O'Rourke

Dusk At Cubist Castle - OTC (thanks BBB for the reminder awhile back)

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band

(Dug out the Lennon when I noticed it was being featured on a re-run of Classic Albums on Sky Arts).

The Infotainment Scan - The Fall

Putting mildly The Fall are now both a national treasure of a certain strain and an unacquired taste for many.

Their records sound great. Hi-concept recordings of scuffled, often scuzzy music.

Why doesn't the vinyl release arrive at the same time as the CD?

Just a little gripe...but c'mon!!! (We are paying more BTW).

At the Bristol HiFi show I bought 180g vinyl copies of Revolver and The White Album and played those last night: Jolly good too! 🙂

I'm guessing you might be talking about The Next Day by David Bowie? I was a bit surprised to see a two week delay in the vinyl release date from the CD/download date myself. I've listened to it on Spotify a few times and I'm looking forward to the vinyl even more now.

Exactly, but seems to be inherently poor project management on the part of the record company minions.

Unless anyone can explain why they can't release two bits of plastic at the same time?
