Mine’s survived three years but I don’t use it that often.

We did have a different remote for a Panasonic telly give up the ghost within a year, and they sent me a free replacement. But only after trying to charge me £18 for it!

As we're discussing LG remotes; I thought it was worth me sharing; there is an ethernet USB add on you can try. You may not be aware most LG TV built in ethernet is compatible upwards of 10-100mb, so if you're watching 4K television from your streaming provider like Netflix it's likely to be heavily compressed, thus the picture quality is nowhere near it's absolute best.
If your internet bandwidth is already low, you can ignore my post but if data stream is >100mb, please see my comments below 🙂

On Virgin Media I'm subscribed 1.3 gb broadband but most of the time, I'm averaging between 900mb and 1.00 gb.

If you're receiving high bandwidth broadband it is worthwhile getting yourself
Ethernet Adapter, 2.5Gbps High-Speed Network Adapter for Gaming and 4K content, USB 3.2 Gen 1 RJ45 Gigabit LAN Adaptor.

Before adding this device to my LG C4 USB socket, I was get a paltry 19-25mb and the picture wasn't that great. I'm now getting in excess of 310mb and 4K is beautiful, no compression.

I have the ASUS version, I've tried it fully compatible with LG C4.

Netflix app is on TV.
The Virgin Media router is upstairs, it feeds into mains ethernet lans (2.5gb Magic Devolo mk2), this is received by another Magic Devolo mk2 (3 port) in the lounge.

the output from the Magic Devolo feeds directly to ASUS 2.5 ethernet USB adapter, which is plug into the TV, thus allowing Netflix and other streaming apps to be connected.
The second and third feed from Magic Devolo goes to the router switch box, this connects to all the other devices and the other direct feed is for Kartina Russian TV service.

I hope this explains 🙂

I would recommend anyone disregard this advice and not waste their money on a 2.5GB ethernet adapter.

The 100Mbps NIC in TVs are not the bottleneck Jason is making them out to be.

Netflix averages around 15Mbps and peaks around 20Mbps for 4K/HDR content. Amazon Prime is similar.

Apple used to recommend 25Mbps for 4K/HDR purchases etc, not sure about ATV+.

The BBC recommend similar for streaming in UHD/HDR.

HD content on PSB VOD services peaks around 5Mbps.

Yes, if you go to Netflix via the menu, there's an option that tells you the internet speed.
Weirdly I was getting very low speeds from the LG TV's generic lans internet connection.
When I run it through the ASUS adapter I'm getting respectable speeds 310+ mb. which is fine, happy with that.

I think why I'm getting 300mb-ish and not the full Virgin 1GB is probably due to the mains ethernet lans (Magic 2 Devolo) being split three ways?
Not really bothered, 300mb is more than enough 🙂
