Karate - 595

I've been an admirer of this jazzy post-rock band for years and recently stumbled across this live album. Geoff Farina is a fantastic guitarist and the ensemble playing of the three piece at this gig is really something. The quality of the recording is also amazing so if you like extremely skilful playing with thoughful lyrics, the 8 tracks in this set, from the laid back jazzy start to the rocking climax could be right up your street. Check it out.

On CD, some modern funked up British blues from master guitarist Matt Schofield..

Cheers for the clue, daveh75 🙂

He has a great voice, he sang a fine version of Wonderwall during Chris Moyles's non-stop radio marathon for Comic Relief:

Marillion - `Script For A Jester`s Tear` Dble CD

I do of course have this classic album on vinyl as well as cd though I`ve been playing the double cd recently which features some great songs such as `Grendel`, `Market Square Heroes` and `Three Boats Down From The Candy` on the bonus disc. The original album boasts two of my favourite songs of all time in the shape of the title track `Script For A Jester`s Tear` and `Forgotten Sons`. Emotional stuff but if you bump into Fish don`t make the same mistake as I did and try to talk to him about his old work!

Highlights From Jesus Christ Superstar - Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber Single CD

Just noticed that you can buy the full two cd version of this for four pounds less than the single cd highlights?? Ah well, I prefer the single cd version anyway. This is in my top three Lloyd Webber musicals and features a stunning performance from Steve Balsamo playing Jesus and an excellent performance from Zubin Varla as Judas. There is also an appearance from Alice Cooper who plays Herod. The only time I`ve ever felt sorry for Phil Collins was when he had to follow Steve Balsamo who had just sung an incredible version of `Gethsemane` on some sort of stage variety programme back in 1996 or 1997 I think? If I`d have been Phil I think I`d have feigned illness and not taken to the stage.
