Right. That's it!!.

This stupid thread has gone on long enough and people on here wonder why manufacturers, PR guys and distributors don't get involved on the forums. This thread should have been locked a long time ago in my opinion because it is counter productive. It isn't about HiFi, It's character assasination so what the hell's it doing on here??.

Until this situation changes ( sometime never ) there will be no more input from me. I admire John Duncan for taking it on the chin but think he's a fool in this case.

Sorry guys. 20+ years of experience at your disposal, not promoting my own brands since I have recommended many other good pieces of kit in the past but until the trolls are sorted, I'm outta here. You all take care.

They are the minority, though. Agree it's a ridiculous thread but the OP has gone AWOL.

That's not really the point, the thread should have been locked and AL banned at the FIRST insult, not 60 posts later.

I'm with Richard, I know people used to complain about the somewhat draconian moderation in the old days but it's gone too far the other way now, the only thing I really didn't agree with before was the ban on discussing moderation as it gave you no right to reply when a mistake was made, other than that I preferred it when everyone knew what they could and couldn't get away with, now it seems you can get away with anything, so I'm going to head over to that BBC petition thread and let simonlewis know exactly what I think of him...

Couldn't agree more.

Seem to remember he did this a couple of years ago, when WHFI changed their mod policy. He stormed off saying it was tantamount to spying/espionage etc etc. (something on those lines).

Not much happening here this month

But... but... but... a WHF moderator is in interested in buying some AVI speakers and is going to borrow a pair from an AVI forum member to have a listen.

That's worse than Barack Obama lending Kim Jong-un some nuclear warheads for the weekend to see if he likes them.

So what's JD's decision to buy some AVIs got to do with it? Sorry that's pathetic. What if he went and purchased a Gramophone, would that be any different?

We're damned if we do, and damned if we don't. Yes, we've taken a lighter touch to moderation than in the past and let people argue among themselves without constantly resorting to locking threads (which only encourages those involved to start another one). We could re-introduce more draconian measures, but that often causes as many problems as it solves.

Lemon's an Aussie isn't he ? We could always arrange a Kangaroo Court, and put him on trial :shifty:

Actually, there was a right of reply - the Contact Us button, but using it just got you more nonsense, so yndur point stands.

Oh, I know, I wore that out on many an occasion! That wasn't public though, so people still assumed you'd done something wrong.

Spring is definitely here. The blossom is starting to smell. Lovely

Still a little bit puzzled why Richard has given up on the forum because of one or two individuals. When I eventually leave it won't be because of a couple of idiots, but due to the fact that either I can't help anymore or just bored.

Equally people could just learn to behave like adults, but I guess that's asking too much. I'm sorry to see Richard go.

Exactly my point Andy. Nothing wrong with freedom of speech. All for that but until you get your house in order, don't expect any technical input from me!. When you've done that I'll see about returning to the forums to try and help people out. I've got a life to lead.

I don't understand why people think these things are so black and white - surely there can be moderation in context. If AL had attacked another member of the forum, it's very possible the thread could have been deleted and him reprimanded or even banned. If threads like these were deleted, most people would be none the wiser, unless you happened to glimpse it prior to this.

On this occassion, AL is commenting on JD. JD is a mod and is therefore perfectly capable of deleting the thread if he wishes, but has chosen not to. Just because of this, this doesn't stop him deleting other threads if he so chooses. This thread's existence therefore does not equate to a carte blanche for anyone to attack anyone they choose.

The world is not black and white people...

I understand that but when was the last time you saw a thread locked or someone banned for personal abuse? It just doesn't happen these days. The only House Rules that are still enforced are those surrounding commercial activities, advertising and the like.

OK, you want me to lock it, I'll lock it. And we do still ban people, you may just not be aware of it.
