don't know why this didn't work

Our sky router is in the kitchen connected to the ps3 and we use a laptop and ipad in the lounge which is approx 30 feet away but we have a very weak connection, particularly on the ipad.
When we take the laptop or ipad nearer the router they work fine.

What can i get to boost the signal in the lounge?

I had a look on ebay and found these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150Mbps-WIRELESS-N-USB-ADAPTER-LAN-NETWORK-WiF...

but maybe barking up the wrong tree??

the laptop has wifi built in.

How old is your router? If its a wireless g router then that is possibly one reason as to why your signal is weak. Another is if you have thick walls.

You could try increasing the height of the router.................... it does work though!

A Wireless N router is much much better and its indoor & outdoor range is supposed to be x2 that of wireless g.

Your iPad runs off wireless N and so having it hook up to a wireless N router would make for a much better connection. If changing to a N doesn't solve the problem then you may need a wireless access point. Such as: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/en/airstation-nfiniti-highpower-giga-wireless-n-router-access-point.html
