Vinyl to MP3 issues

HI, I have recently purchased a hi fi system including Project Debut USB turntable.

It all works well, sounds great.

I am trying to use the turntable to convert some of the vinyl I have to MP3 but have hit a few problems.

I have tried to use Audacity as mentioned in the project manual, My Lap top is running windows vista.

I have learned that vista does not necessarily support this kind of thing now. So am looking at other options.

An external USB sound card.

Could anyone let me knoe if this is the right way to go & if so what sound card?

Shouldn't be any issues with Audacity and Vista have you downloaded the recommended 1.3.12 flavour?

I have the 1.3.12 version.

The main problem is the PC is unable to see any recoeding devices other than the Microphone.

I have tried show disabled and disconected devices and nothing else appears.

I have updated the sound card driver and tried again and still noting ?

Mixie, Keep your current setting of sound card as the playback device, but select "USB audio codec" as the default recording - see if that helps.
