swapping to a music streaming amp

i was going to do that but space wise would be better to have a new streaming amp. or the streamer would be in a cupboard below the current amp. not sure if it would affect it being in a cupboard.
Be aware that a streaming amp will be obsolete once streaming services come and go, or change their API's and the amp manufacturer doesn't provide software updates anymore. A pure analogue amp will never be obsolete. Especially if they don't use any proprietary components. When the services change, simply replace the streamer if there are no updates anymore.

"Streaming amps" usually have a plethora of analogue and/or digital inputs, so no they wont become obsolete.

well, i went into rayleigh hifi to buy some speaker cable and came out with a Wiim ultra. haven't fully used it yet, but seems perfect. sits on top of my amp nicely!
You've done well, perhaps in the near future you may consider a good DAC and use your Ultra as a transport?
TBH, the DAC on the Ultra is already good, you would need to spend considerably more on a DAC to see the improvements. I'm just emphasising, your purchase is future proof and you can grow with it, when it suits you 🙂
