For well over a decade (maybe 17 years?) I've had a system built around KEF LS50 Anniversary speakers and Roksan Kandy K2 Integrated Amp. Both bought new. Both, iirc, about £800 each. Sources are Yamaha CD-S2000 CD, Eversolo Z8 Dac and highly modified Technics SL1200. I'm not interesting in replacing the sources but I'm "getting the itch" to replace the amp and/or the speakers.

Small room. System works well but I have to give it some volume to come alive, so I think I'd like something that is nice and clear, well seperated, at all volumes. Not needing to turn up the volume to come alive.

Have thought about Yamaha A-S1200 or Advance Paris A10 Classis. (This makes me think it's a visual change I'm after - lovely VUs!). But, would I be better changing the speakers instead. Similar budget (£2.5K). PMC Prophecy?

Figured I'd ask the Illuminati...

You say small room. How small?
If replacing speakers it will need to be with some you can actually audition in that room.

The room is 3m "deep" x 2.5m "wide" but with one side open the size of a double-door (removed), like this... (attached).

London terrace, two rear box-rooms converted to my office and play room, dividing doors removed.

With that somewhat compromised setup, I’d tend to look at changing the amp ‘for fun’. It is unlikely to sound particularly different but you acknowledge you fancy meters. Or just buy a Fosi addon meter box and keep the Kandy!

Pace @gasolin I didn’t find any significant distortion on the KEFs in actual listening. However, I know that lab tests show this up - although many smaller speakers don’t easily replay high levels at low frequencies.

The Fosi seems to be available from Amazon UK amongst others.
