I was told its brand new and not a return. They had one left at the norwich branch and also one at the oxford street branch. I hope i have not been told a lie.. I would really be upset.

I'm not sure. Part of me says that you should insist on the refund. After all, if you had gone for a more expensive TV, you would've had to pay the difference, so why not the other way round? Also, you have an option of returning it, & then making a fresh purchase of the VT50, saving you £100. Other part of me says that JL have gone out of their way to keep you happy, and they will undoubtedly lose money on the swap. So maybe I should leave it. In any case, VT50 has always been more expensive than GT50.

Since the original TV was faulty, I think a refund is reasonable from a consumer perspective. Ultimately you want the best TV for your money.

If I wasn't prepared to spend much more, I'd request a refund and seek out a GT60, which outperforms the VT50 in several key areas.

I know this means buying from another retailer, but it must be possible to purchase a 50GT60 from a store with a reasonable returns policy and aftersales service. I'll have a quick browse.

I haven't got anywhere to buy the GT60, where I would feel safe to. The VT65 is past my weight limit for my stand, so couldn't go there. I do sometimes feel the urge to buy the GT60 as a second TV, but have no place to buy it!

Richer Sounds?

Only have the VT65 on the website. I am not too confident going back to Richer Sounds me after the experience I had with the Philips 40 inch TV!

The guy who sorted it on here was great, but I would not fancy getting myself into another mess.

Gel, where's your nearest Panasonic store?

When I was researching the VT65 I called my local (sort of) Panasonic store to ask about price. They were willing to price match and include a five year warranty (they said I could return paperwork to activate the full warranty without any problem). There was no need for me to go to the store and they advised they would deliver free of charge.

I stuck with JL because they also matched the price and I can't fault their customer service. Obviously It was less hassle to arrange, too.

Hi-Spek and Roy Jowett also have the GT60 in stock and may be flexible on price and warranty.

Not that I'm encouraging you to buy another TV, of course!

My understanding is that you've now started a new contract, which means you have a 28 day cooling off period, starting the day you take delivery.

If the VT50 has issues, you can obtain a full refund, no questions asked. I appreciate this isn't ideal, as it would involve further hassle, but you can rest easy that you're covered should the VT50 not meet expectations.

Somehow I think that 2014 GT70 plasma may sport ZT60 panel technology.

Or perhaps there will be no GT70?

There's no GT60 outside Europe. The VT75 may use the bonded screen/panel (if such a TV ever exists).

Trouble is, there's always the promise of something better/cheaper on the horizon. I've promised myself I'll do no more TV shopping for at least four years, assuming the VT65 is OK....

This is my third attempt at typing this! The other two just deleted. I will keep it short. Our Panasonic shop closed about a year and a half ago, but was not very good. Hi Spek about an hour away but don't feel too confident buying a TV from them.

Yes.

They also offer a professional calibration service for £99, if you buy the TV from there.

Not bad then, I might be tempted to give them a call.

If tv bought from JLonline you can only exchange online so of Civillian bought in store, and swapped in store the VT50 should be new as stock is different to online stock (as is the case with most large online business's)

I'm on iPad 2 as well. Click "disable rich text" before typing.

Where is the disable rich text? I have found the colours!
