Turntable upgrade idea

Hello Forum,

I'am intending/thinking of upgrading from a Rega P3/2000 + Heed Orbit 1 to another level and thinking of either a P7 or P9.

I listened to an LP 12 with RB 300 and the difference to my P3 was not very impressive. Just wonder whether a P3 is so good already and whether an upgrade will lead to much better sound or just marginal.

Any experiences in the forum ?

TBH, the RB300 is not a good match for the LP12 (or any other similarly suspended TT for that matter). I would try and get a listen to an LP12 with either an Ittok, Ekos or Naim Aro arm to get a decent impression of it.

As for the P7/P9, I would suggest that there should be quite a difference, but it would be worth booking a demo with a local dealer, then taking your P3 along for a comparison. If you can't tell much of a difference, walk away and keep your cash!
