And this one is nearly an hour long !!!

What conclusion do these two come to ?
Yeah, I kind of started at the beginning, moved to the middle, then jump to the end and apologies if I missed out the fundamental points but it's fair to assume, there's quite a bit of inference that sonically USB cables sound different and you should spend your grand on Curious Cables.

"To my ears" investing in good USB cables that block out external noise interference, will improve the sound but it should be in proportion to the costs of your hardware. The Chord Shawline USB costs under £200 retail but my DAC and Digital Transport/Streamer collectively costs approx. £950. Proportionally way too much to pay for a cable but I managed to get mine as new old stock for £129, so that wasn't too bad.

Oh Ps. I should mention, if you factor out the sonic considerations, the construction and built quality of the Chord alone merits the costs.

Have to be honest with you Jason -
if I was a billionaire, I couldn't spend £129 on any single cable.
Strange (maybe), but true.

Yeah. Absolute bargain for at best a placebo, that will make no measurable improvement whatsoever 🙄

You could subscribe to one of the many streaming services for over a year for that...

I hear you, it is about deminishing returns.
£100+ on cables will give less return for the same money, if you were replacing stylus of tone arm.
This is where the buck stops for me, anything beyond £200 on cables would be excessive but it all depends on ones threshold.

What has streaming got to do with the price of cheese LOL 😊!
I pay for two streaming services for my two IPTV MAG boxes. It works out £65 each annually, I get 4K TV, all channels across the globe, sports, VOD, tv series, almost everything.
Now let me ask you, would stop subscribing to SKY or Netflix because it would be considered insane to pay £80 - £90 monthly subscription???
At least buying a good cable and "To my Ears" (ha haha) is just a one off payment.
Really it just boils down to personal choices doesn't it?

Absolutely.

Those who can afford better compenents will tell you how they sound better to their ears. Those who can't afford better things will tell you how it doesn't make any difference. meanwhile, the thread will reach 2,000 replies without ever going anywhere!
Not a case of not being able to afford cables.
Such people can find money for things that are actually better (y)

By all means.
I mean, I love mini disc, and it's sound
Whatever floats your ocean going vessel

As long as we aren't actually scientifically advocating "warmth, depth, colour" "improvement" from a cable , on a digital signal, go for your life, innit.

So your naivety isn't exclusive to HiFi!

It also extends to using dodgy IPTV services..

I don't subscribe to Sky, or BT or Virgin for that matter, because it is insane to pay them £80 or £90 pcm.

Doesn't mean I seek out dodgy IPTV subs instead though.

Using "to my ears" doesn't give people carte blanche to talk nonsense, and it go unchallenged AFAIAK

Exactly, as with all cable threads. They serve only to increase ones post count and offer no relevant information whatever...., In my humble opinion.

Seriously man, chill.
HiFi is passion, I think we all share. We don't have to agree on everything, but every person on this thread deserves some common courtesy.

Perhaps any further additions to this thread could ask themselves:

a) Am I adding anything new, and
b) am I doing so with at least a modicum of respect?

I suspect this one has run its course (though I am not locking it), and all a bystander would conclude is there are two camps and that never the twain shall meet.
I'll drink to that 🍻🍺, I think the cows are coming home now!
